Bogolyubskii female monastery near Vladimir city. Female Orthodox monastery in the village of Bogolyubovo, Vladimir region. Part of the castle of Vladimir-Suzdal Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky, which killed in this place by boyars-conspirators. There is a unique monument of architecture of Ancient Rus - civic building of the 12th century (the prince's chamber).
Vladimir-Suzdal prince was killed here on the night of June 29, 1174. In the prince's chamber near the stair tower there was a bloody clash. Prince was unarmed, but bravely fought and get many wounds. He nearly defeated enemies and tried to escape under cover of darkness. But under the stairs enemies caught him and cut off his left arm by sword. Prince died with the words: "Lord, into thy hands I commit my spirit!" Orthodox Church honors Bogolyubsky as a saint.
